About Cross Pens
The A. T. Cross Pen Company is a major international manufacturer of fine writing instruments, pen refills and reading glasses.
US presidents always use a Cross Pen.
President Biden used a Cross Century II rollerball (414-1) with a porous/felt tip refill to sign his first executive orders during his inauguration.
Both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush favoured the Cross Townsend model, while Barack Obama and Donald Trump prefer the Century II in black lacquer.
Founded by Richard Cross who made the first Cross product in 1846, initially manufacturing gold and silver casings for pencils, reflecting the Cross family's history as jewellers. Richard Cross eventually passed the company on to his son Alonzo Townsend Cross. Since then A.T. Cross have re-invented the writing instrument category, combining design ingenuity with jewellery-quality craftsmanship. They were America's first manufacturer of quality writing instruments, and that means that they've been making pens people use, depend on and enjoy for a long time.
The company has developed many innovative new writing instruments, including forerunners of the modern mechanical pencils, and the earliest stylographic pens. Cross Pens still make products unsurpassed in design, innovation and craftsmanship just as Richard Cross did one at a time and by hand.
Cross has been an official supplier of pens to the White House since at least the 1970s. The pens used to sign legislation are often given out as souvenirs to those who attend the bill signings.
Bill Clinton and George W. Bush favoured the Cross Townsend model, while Barack Obama and Donald Trump prefer the Century II in black lacquer.
Cross is well known for its fine writing instruments, manufacturing mechanical pencils in the early days. It produced the first stylographic pens (a technological forerunner of the modern ball point pen) in 1879. The current product line includes fountain pens, ball point pens, roller ball pens and mechanical pencils.
All Cross writing instrument mechanisms are unquestionably guaranteed against mechanical failure, regardless of age.
Here at The Pen Zone we have a very large range of Cross Pens and refills for sale in the UK. All Cross Pens come in a luxury gift box.
